Eco Club is one of the innovations of our Gurukulam from the academic year 2009-2010. Inspired by the sayings of our former President Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, we have motivated our Students to plant trees. Each Student must plant ten seedlings in his native place and ten seedlings in the nearby villages around our Gurukulam. We have issued a Green Card to each Student. It has two pages. One page is for the native place and the other page is for the villages around our college. In the Green Card the following entries are to be made.
Name of the seedlings planted
Where is each seedling planted?
Who will take care of it when the Student is away and his contact number?
Measurement of growth rate of each seedling every month in cms for eight months
Signature of the Student, signature of the parent, signature of an elderly person from the village, signature of the Gurukula Director, and signature of the Acharya are required in the card.
All our Students have been motivated to grow trees in order to protect our environment. One Student can have any number of cards. The Student who plants maximum number of tree seedlings will be given a special award. The cards should be submitted at the college at the end of the academic year. Whenever a Student comes to the Gurukula Office, we talk to him about the card and whenever Students go home on holidays we remind them about the seedlings and the card.
